Why practice one short vowel at a time?

Isolating a single vowel lets students focus on blending the sounds without also having to tell vowels apart. Once they are confident with each vowel, the mixed CVC Words Bingo pack checks that they can discriminate between all five.

Which standards does this pack support?

CCSS RF.K.2.D (isolating and pronouncing the sounds in CVC words), RF.K.3.B (associating short vowel sounds with their spellings), and RF.1.2.B (blending sounds into one-syllable words).

How do I call the words?

Say each word slowly, sound by sound (/c/ /a/ /t/), then blend it. Students repeat the sounds and blend the word before looking for it on their card.
