Questions Teachers Ask

About this pack

Which standards does this pack support?
CCSS 4.NF.A.1 (explaining why fractions are equivalent), with 3.NF.A.3 (recognizing simple equivalent fractions) as the entry point. 5th graders use it as warm-up before adding and subtracting unlike fractions (5.NF.A.1).
Why is there a "1" on the card?
Because 8/8 simplifies to a whole number. It is a quick check that students understand a fraction with equal numerator and denominator equals one whole.
Is this too hard for 3rd grade?
Stick to the halves, thirds, fourths, sixths, and eighths calls for 3rd graders — those match the 3rd grade denominators. The tenths, twelfths, and hundredths calls are for 4th and 5th grade.
Is the download free?
Yes — completely free, no signup, no ads, no payment.
